When does VPK begin?
The first day of VPK 2021-2022 begins on Tuesday, August 10th! Open House/Meet the Teacher will be Monday, August 9th, from 2:00-4:00pm. Registration for 2022-2023 school year begins in February, 2022.
How do I register my child?
Is your child age 4 and beginning VPK in the fall? If you wish to participate in this program you must register with the Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County (https://familyservices.floridaearlylearning.com) in order to receive the funding. For additional information you may contact the Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County at (941) 954-4830. We will communicate information pertaining to state registration as it becomes available. There are limited VPK spots available on a first come first served basis with completed enrollment forms. Check out our Parent Handbook for more information.
Is there a registration fee for VPK?
For children attending only the 9:00-12:00 session, there is not a registration fee.
I need more than just 9:00-12:00, what are our options?
Wrap-around preschool is available, depending on availability. We offer a M-F 9:00-3:00 or a 7:30-5:30 schedule.
If we are 9:00-12:00 only, will my child still be able to participate in field trips, programs, etc?
Absolutely! All of our VPK children are able to participate in experiences and events such as field trips and our Christmas program. We also have additional optional programs here on campus throughout the week if you would like to register them; dance, gymnastics, and martial arts.
Conferences and Assessments?
Individual assessments will be done on your child after the first month of attendance with us. This will help us to know in what areas your child is strong, and in which ones they may need additional attention. Results for all assessments are reviewed during parent conferences unless there are any immediate concerns. VPK students are also assessed at the end of the year, to show where they have grown. Formal conferences are offered twice per year.
